Bank-Level Security Into Two-Minute Onboarding

Fast Onboarding Is Usually Where Security Gets Compromised. We Decided To Take The Opposite Approach From The Start.
Most verification flows make the applicant wait while checks run one after another, each one adding a spinner and a chance to give up. We moved identity verification, sanctions screening and device fingerprinting into the background and ran them in parallel while the person completes a short, friendly form.
Identity Without Friction
Document capture uses the phone camera, extracts the fields automatically and compares them to the details already entered, so the applicant never retypes their name or address. Mismatches are flagged instantly rather than days later, when the person has already forgotten what they typed.
What Runs In The Background
- Government document authenticity checks that look at fonts, holograms and machine-readable zones in under a second.
- Sanctions and politically exposed person screening against continuously updated lists, with fuzzy matching tuned so that common names do not generate a wall of false positives that a human then has to clear by hand before the account can open.
- Device reputation and behavioural signals gathered from the session itself, such as typing rhythm and how the form is navigated.
Continuous Verification After Signup
- Onboarding is only the first checkpoint. Risk scores update with every session, so an account that behaves differently six months in is noticed without anyone filing a ticket.
- Step-up authentication triggers only when behaviour changes, which means trusted users on trusted devices almost never see an extra prompt while a new device gets a second look.
The Result
Median onboarding time dropped to under two minutes while the number of fraud attempts caught at signup actually increased.
The lesson is simple and applies far beyond banking: security that runs alongside the user, rather than in front of them, is both faster and stronger. Every check that used to be a gate became a signal, every signal feeds a score, and the score decides quietly whether the next step needs a human at all.
